Review of Who’s On Third

Who’s On Third is a classic, award-winning American sports bar located in downtown Milwaukee. From being named one of the 19 best sports bars in America by Business Insider in 2014 to being the number-one place to be to watch the Milwaukee Brewers, it’s the place to be if you don’t want to miss a thing in Wisconsin sports.

Who’s On Third is a notch above what many would consider to be a “typical sports bar”, offering everything from a delicious brunch to more than a dozen varieties of sandwiches and wraps, plus several brats (it’s Milwaukee, after all) and creative burger offerings.

But let’s start with the appetizers. It wouldn’t be Wisconsin without cheese curds or beer-battered fries, so you’d be forgiven for simply starting there. But there is also Grandma’s Dip, a sour cream and cream cheese-based dip served with kettle chips, celery and carrots.

Other appetizers of note include the pretzel basket and deep-fried cinnamon pretzel bites. And we’d be remiss to not mention the “#1 Rated Grilled Wings”, which Who’s On Third says are the “Wingfest Judge’s Choice” wings, with seven different flavors to choose from.

In terms of entrees, burgers are where it’s at. The Kick Burger intrigues, with its house-made “kick sauce”, and the Maple Bacon Burger boasts a homemade maple aioli sauce. And, if you’re extra hungry, splurge for the Texas Mayhem Burger – a half-pound patty with pulled pork, grilled jalapenos, and onion rings, all piled high on Texas toast.

For non-burger-eaters, there are plenty of salads and other entrees to choose from. And there’s the aforementioned brats, including the more traditional take on things (The Milwaukee Brat with raw onions and sauerkraut) and the outside-the-box (the Oink Oink Brat is stacked with pulled pork, bacon, jalapenos and crispy onion strings).

The drink menu has several local beers to choose from – it is a sports bar, after all — and if you happen upon Who’s On Third for brunch, enjoy one of three mimosas, or perhaps a Bloody Mary along with your eggs.

In terms of specials … let’s just say that it seems unlikely you’ll find anything like Who’s On Third’s weekly rotation of deals. The schedule includes a weekend brunch deal, $2 Build-A-Burger Night on Tuesdays, and $2 Build-A-Brat Night on Wednesdays, and drink specials during University of Wisconsin and Green Bay Packers football games. Oh, and don’t forget 60-cent wings on Thursdays, with a few additional beer specials, too.

Who’s On Third is jam-packed with tons of huge televisions, including a 120-inch projection screen to watch your favorite Wisconsin-based squad.

But if you’re hanging out prior to going to a game in person, then you’ve picked the perfect spot. Who’s On Third offers shuttles to see the Milwaukee Brewers play at Miller Park beginning two hours before the first pitch of each home game.

If you’re looking for a new place to fill up before heading to the game, or perhaps to celebrate another win afterwards, Who’s On Third is your new spot.
